The club was formed at the end of the summer in 1993. The first meeting was held at the Three Tunns public house on 7 September. A good turnout of approximately fifty people attended this meeting and the club was born.

The first committee meeting was held on 16 September and the first steering committee was formed, consisting of M Spiller, A Agar, K Sparks, T Churchill, B Pritchard, D Retter and P Smith. For the first few years the club carried on meeting at the Three Tunns and it was a shore fishing club only. Eventually, the club moved to the Honiton Motel, and this is when the casting and boat fishing section started.  When the Motel closed in 2009 we moved to the British Legion in Honiton and now we have moved to the Con Club in Honiton since the RBL closed in August 2011.

Having always been a member of the NSFA/AT from day one, membership has generally been around sixty. The club has always done well in the Angling Trust top ten specimen awards scheme, even when put up against much bigger clubs with membership of many hundreds of anglers. We would like to think that we have the perfect combination for the club, having a good sound committee and reliable officers. If you think there is anything we could do better, or if you have a problem, please tell someone promptly so that we can try to make things right.

Club meetings are always held at the Con Club on the 3rd Thursday each month. All members are welcome to attend as are any new members. Meetings start around 8pm. Membership costs £15 a year for seniors, and juniors are free. There is a family membership (2 adults from the same family) for £20 We would also encourage you to join the Angling Trust as a full member, but this would be up to you. If you do join as a full Angling Trust member you club membership would drop to £12 a year. The club can do all the Angling Trust paper work for you if you need it.

Please let Mike Spiller know of any thing caught or pictures that could be used on this web site to make it even bigger and better for all to view.  With the new website now up and running we need help to build the site up and make it better for the members.  We also have a Face Book page kindly being run by James Trevett, this can be found at Honiton Sea angling Club.   Please contact James for any Face Book news.

For club members we also run a cheap club parking permit for Branscombe beach car park. (what you save in parking would easily pay for your membership each year!)  When you join the club please ask Mike Spiller for a card.

Honiton SAC also have their own Caps/hats (£5) and sweatshirts/hoodies/rain coats/fleece (from £10.50) etc, if you need any information on clothing please contact Mike Spiller/John Stanford.
